Questions, answered

What is lorem ipsum?

Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin used as placeholder text since the 1500s. It comes from Cicero's "De finibus bonorum et malorum" (45 BC). Because it is not readable English, people look at the layout instead of reading the words.

Why use lorem ipsum instead of real text?

It has a natural mix of word lengths, so a layout looks realistic before the real copy is ready, and nobody mistakes it for final text. Replace it with real content before you publish: placeholder text on a live page hurts both readers and SEO.

Can I get it with HTML tags?

Yes. Turn on "HTML <p> tags" and each paragraph is wrapped in <p></p>, ready to paste into code or an HTML editor.

Is the text random?

Each version is built from the classic lorem ipsum word list in a random order. Click New text to get another version with the same settings.

Is there a limit?

You can generate up to 100 paragraphs or sentences, or up to 1,000 words, at a time.
